About PJ

East Finchley drum teacher PJ Ciarla is a highly experienced drummer and educator. He brings a friendly, sensitive approach to teaching. This mindset has proved hugely popular with his students of all ages, particularly in helping them unlock their own creativity.

PJ studied at the Saint Louis University of Music – based in Rome, Italy – before completing his BA (Hons) specialising in Creative Musicianship at the world famous Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London.

He has a huge amount of studio experience, previously working with Mouritz Wanger (composer), Jason Bavandan (producer EMI, Battle), Antonio Camilli (The Voice, Italy) as well as drumming for his energetic two-piece rock group, Rival Karma. Most notably, Rival Karma track Lies was featured on an advertising campaign for Maybelline New York.

"Learning new skills get harder as you get older (and I also have a very analytical job) so just having to approach something so different was really daunting. My teacher PJ was really open to talking about how I prefer to learn and what I want out of drumming. We have created my learning path accordingly, whilst having a lot of fun! It’s baby steps but I am beginning to build muscle memory and I can see progress from when I started. It’s amazing – and I have kept it up!"

Qualifications

East Finchley drum teacher PJ Ciarla received his BA (Hons) from the ICMP (Institute of Contemporary Music Performance) back in 2016. Whilst studying he specialised in Creative Musicianship. Prior to receiving his BA (Hons), PJ graduated with a HND from the Saint Louis University of Music based in Rome, Italy.
