Tuition Terms
About Us
Make More Music Limited is a marketing and administrative agency that specialises in representing music teachers. We operate as a disclosed agency.
All of the Teachers are registered as self-employed or as their own legal entity. The Teachers operate under an agreement whereby Make More Music Limited has been appointed “the Agent” and the Teacher as “the Principal”.
The Make More Music Portal is designed as an online administrative system for Lesson and payment management. The contract for the tuition itself is solely between the User of the Make More Music Portal and the Teacher. It is the responsibility of the Teacher to provide the tuition to the Student and it is the responsibility of the User to pay the Teacher for this service.
Throughout these Terms and Conditions the following definitions will apply:
“User”: The account holder who is responsible for the payment of Lessons booked between the Student(s) on their account and their Teacher(s)”;
“Student”: The person who is taking the Lessons (may be the same person as the User*);
“Teacher”: The party responsible for the delivery of Lessons booked between the User/Student and Teacher, and;
“Portal”: Make More Music Limited’s online administrative system for Lesson and payment management, accessible at https://portal.makemoremusic.uk.
* The terms “User” and “Student” are often combined as “User/Student” throughout these terms. This is because in some instances they can be the same person. For example, when a User only has one Student on their account (themselves).
User Terms
Lesson Bookings
Lessons booked via the Make More Music Portal are sold by the Teacher and not by Make More Music Limited. Make More Music Limited has been authorised to facilitate the purchase and booking of music tuition on behalf of the Teachers. The scheduling of Lessons is the responsibility of the Teacher and the User/Student and not by Make More Music Limited.
Recurring Payment Mandate
By using the Make More Music Portal the User consents to the Teacher being able to initiate payment on their behalf for any Lessons booked via the Portal. The User acknowledges that the Teacher is initiating the agreed payment for a booked Lesson and that Make More Music Limited simply facilitates this transaction on behalf of the Teacher.
Payment is initiated when a Teacher schedules a Lesson on behalf of the User/Student within the Make More Music Portal. When this happens, a payment will be made to the Teacher on the User’s behalf. The User agrees that this will be 48 hours prior to the scheduled date and time of the Lesson, or within approximately one hour if a Lesson is added to the Portal with less than 48 hours before the scheduled start time.
A Lesson can be added by a Teacher to the Portal up to 48 hours after the Lesson has taken place. If a Lesson takes place that a Teacher is unable to enter into the Portal on time, upon Teacher instruction Make More Music Limited will be able to manually initiate payment by the User for the Lesson. In this instance, details of the payment will be communicated in advance to the User via written email.
The payment amount will be the discussed fee – set by the Teacher – detailed in writing prior to completing the Lesson booking. This amount will also be displayed within the Portal on an individual Student and Teacher basis.
All Lesson fees are subject to change at the Teachers discretion. However any changes will be communicated to the User in writing at least 28 days prior to any changes taking effect on the Portal.
Lesson payments made by the User are the full property of the Teacher.
Refunds
The Make More Music Portal will not process payments for any Lessons that have been cancelled within the Portal with over 48 hours notice, as per the cancellation policy (see “Cancellation Policy” below).
Any Lessons that are cancelled with less than 48 hours notice by the User/Student are to be charged for in full and will not be eligible for a refund as per these terms. This includes Lessons that have not yet been scheduled within the Make More Music Portal but have already been arranged between the User/Student and the Teacher.
Refunds are entirely at the discretion of the Teacher.
Lesson payments cannot be transferred or sold to another individual.
Cancellation Policy
Lesson dates, times, frequency and duration are agreed between the User and the Teacher.
By using the Make More Music Portal, the User agrees to a cancellation policy of 48 hours notice. If a User/Student cancels with less than 48 hours notice on the Portal the Teacher reserves the right to charge the full Lesson amount and will utilise the Portal to do so.
If a User/Student cancels a Lesson with over 48 hours notice no payment will be initiated.
Make More Music Limited acknowledges that the Teacher has the right to waive this policy at their discretion. Make More Music Limited gives the Teacher full autonomy over this process.
Payment Facilitation
Lesson payments will be charged automatically to your designated card. You can change the payment method on your Account page in the Portal at any time.
If a charge to your card for a Lesson payment fails, you will be prompted via email and have the opportunity to change your designated card if necessary. Two further attempts will be automatically made for payment – 1) 24 hours and 2) 48 hours hours after the initial attempt. You can also ask us to retry the payment at your request in addition to the aforementioned schedule. If all retries fail, you will then be prompted to make a manual card payment and Teachers will not be able to book any further Lessons for any Students on your account until payment has been settled.
The Make More Music Portal uses Stripe for payment processing services. This is to ensure that all payments are made securely and are fully compliant with the most up to date payment processing regulations. The Stripe Services Agreement can be found here – https://stripe.com/gb/ssa. This agreement may be updated by Stripe at their own discretion.
As a result, the User’s card details will be stored securely by Stripe and not on our own servers.
User/Student Data
User/Student data is stored securely. You can request the removal of your personal data at any time. All requests will be processed within 30 days.

Lesson Bookings
Lessons booked via the Make More Music Portal are sold by the Teacher and not by Make More Music Limited. The Teacher agrees that they are using the Make More Music Portal to facilitate the purchase and booking of their own music tuition. The scheduling of Lessons is the responsibility of the Teacher and the User/Student and not by Make More Music Limited.
Recurring Payment Mandate
By using the Make More Music Portal the Teacher is initiating payment on behalf of the User for any booked Lessons. The Teacher acknowledges that they are initiating the agreed payment for a booked Lesson and that Make More Music Limited simply facilitates this transaction on behalf of the Teacher.
The payment amount charged to the User will be the Teacher’s own fee and will include the agreed Make More Music agent service fee.
Please note that any payments initiated manually are still subject to Stripe’s 7 day “pending” period and can only be included in the Teacher’s monthly payout once cleared (see “Payment Facilitation” below).
Lesson payments made by the User are the full property of the Teacher (see “Agent service fees, Teacher fees and Rate Cards” below).
Payment Facilitation
The Make More Music Portal uses Stripe for payment processing services. This is to ensure that all payments are made securely and are fully compliant with the most up to date payment regulations. The Stripe Services Agreement can be found here – https://stripe.com/gb/ssa. This agreement may be updated by Stripe at their own discretion.
We use Stripe Connect to initiate payments to your nominated account. This will be on a monthly basis, with the payout date being the 1st of each month. A payout will cover one month of Lesson payments, minus the agreed agent service fee (see “Agent service fees, Teacher fees and Rate Cards” below).
Please note that Stripe usually holds collected payments for 7 days before they can be paid out automatically to bank accounts. Payments held for this 7 day period are “pending”. You can see your pending balance at any time on your Stripe Dashboard.
This means that 1 month of Lesson payments will start from 1 month and 7 days prior to the payout date, and end 7 days prior to the payout date. As such, payouts do not necessarily reflect Lessons taught within the previous calendar month. Details can be found in your monthly payout report.
Agent service fees, Teacher fees and Rate Cards
Agent service fees and Student Lesson rates are agreed on an individual Student and Teacher basis. These amounts will be displayed in the Rate Card associated with each Student, viewable by the Teacher. The Teacher agrees to confirm the rates are correct for each Student before any payment can be requested on their behalf.
Payments collected on the Teacher’s behalf will be sent automatically via Stripe Connect on the 1st of each month, minus the agreed agent service fee (see above).
Teachers can change their Lesson fees at any time but we request that any changes are communicated to us with over 28 days notice so we can provide the User with at least 28 days notice prior to any changes taking effect on the Portal.
Lesson payments made by the User are the full property of the Teacher.
Refunds
The Make More Music Portal will not process payments for any Lessons that have been cancelled within the Portal with over 48 hours notice, as per the cancellation policy (see “Cancellation Policy” below).
By using the Portal, the Teacher reserves the right to charge for Lessons cancelled by the User/Student with less than 48 hours notice.
Refunds are entirely at the discretion of the Teacher.
Failed Payments
If a charge for a Lesson payment fails, the User will be prompted to make the necessary updates to their card details.
- If a Teacher schedules a Lesson in the Portal more than 48 hours prior to the Lesson they will be notified via email 48 hours before the lesson that the Lesson payment has failed, providing the required 48 hours notice for a potential cancellation.
- If a Teacher schedules a Lesson in the Portal less than 48 hours prior to the Lesson, they will be notified via email that the Lesson payment has failed approximately one hour later. The Teacher acknowledges that Lessons scheduled in the Portal with less than 48 hours notice is not sufficient notice for the Portal to retry all payment attempts prior to the Lesson start time.
In both cases, two further attempts will be automatically made for payment – 1) 24 hours and 2) 48 hours hours after the initial attempt. The User can also ask us to retry the payment at their request in addition to the aforementioned schedule. If all retries fail, the User will then be prompted to make a manual card payment and Teachers will not be able to book any further Lessons for any Students on the affected User account until payment has been settled.
As payment for Lessons is the responsibility of the User/Student and not by Make More Music Limited, we cannot be responsible for any failed payments, including Teachers still providing Lessons to Users/Students when payments have failed or are still being retried.
Ear Protection
Due to the nature of music tuition, there may be times during a Lesson when recommended listening levels are exceeded. This is an advisory warning only.
Make More Music Limited takes no responsibility for any hearing loss or injury as a result of music tuition from associated Teachers, Users or Students. We strongly recommend that everyone wears industry-standard ear plugs or ear defenders whilst conducting and/or taking Lessons.
Changes to Terms & Conditions
Make More Music Limited keeps our Terms & Conditions under regular review. Any updates will appear on this page. This page was last updated on 13 December 2021.
